Jake's Weekly Flow #41

Weekly Flow #41 - October 14th, 2023

Dear, peacemakers

Welcome to my weekly flow of news, events, insightful perspectives, and impactful stories aimed at creating positive change in your life and the lives you touch, at home and on the road.

My curious mind, intuitive soul, and big heart, along with some personal connections and crushes on extraordinary humans have put me in a position to receive an abundance of practical information, exciting innovation, and profound wisdom, usually travel-related, that has flowed to me, and now, on to you. Before you scan, take a breath, tune in, open up to the flow, and find your glow.

  • Fetzer Institute Presents: Exploring the Spiritual Pulse of Global Wellbeing - "As an active member of the Coalition for Faith & Media—a global partnership dedicated to fostering understanding and collaboration between a diverse set of culture makers and faith leaders to spur innovative change—the Fetzer Institute is thrilled to present a trailblazing study, "Faith and Wellness: The Worldwide Connection Between Spirituality & Wellbeing,”

  • I’m thrilled to share one of our most dedicated Media Herald’s, Marinel de Jesus’, projects: “Great Himalaya Trail Women Leaders on the Trail Campaign in Nepal, which is poised to make a significant impact on the trekking tourism industry, promote gender equity, and empower women in leadership roles.”

  • 4,000 Years of Wisdom and We’re Still Learning with Dr. Pamela Ayo Yetunde (Episode #152) “Dr. Pamelo Ayo Yetunde demonstrates why we are right to look for answers to our modern problems in timeless wisdom, some of its thousands of years old." Thank you, Dr. Lynda Ulrich for all the amazing work you do at the Goodness Exchange

  • Have a listen to Travel Trends featuring DHARMA's Founder & CEO Charaf El Mansouri. “This unique platform, inspired (in part) by the profound insights from Yuval Noah Harari's Sapiens, empowers creators and brands to offer trips, all while fostering a sense of connection and belonging.”

  • While I’m grateful for all our schoolteachers out there, I think the public school system needs a significant revisioning and revitalization.  Here is a good course on Awe in Education: Creating Learning Environments that Inspire, Motivate, and Heal. “Learn how awe enhances academic learning, motivation, and well-being in a new online, self-paced course.” - Like this? • TTC Advisory Council member, Lisa Merrill, has some truly meaningful and transformative workshops in nature and wildlife photography, from the technical skills to the magic, and the ethics. Check out some of her upcoming workshops and adventures!

  • Fellow Pilgrim, and TTC Advisory Council Member, Maria Baltazzi, just wrote her book, “Take a Shot at Happiness.” Here’s a wonderful testimonial from her former colleague on the Survivor television show. “Reading Take a Shot at Happiness was like being back on the island with Maria!  The same heartfelt approach she took as a producer on Survivor can be felt on every page.  It’s presented in a way that lets you choose to read it cover to cover or go specifically to sections that are speaking to you right now.  It was a great reminder of how quickly you can change your state of mind and the powerful impact that intention can have on your life.” ~ Jeff Probst, Emmy Award Winning Host of Survivor and Executive Producer

  • Our newest Advisor, Brad McLain, recently wrote this for our friends at the Modern Elder Academy. Narrative Pathways for Personal Change: What I Learned Working with Jane Goodall. Brad Mclain, Ph.D. Is the author of the book, Designing Transformative Experiences, from which this blog is excerpted.

Lastly, to bring my Camino walk to a close, at least in this platform, I am honored to share this deeply moving tattoo story from our guide at Walking Mentorship, Joao Perre-Viana. This proves that it doesn’t matter how many times you walk the Camino, or spend any time looking inwardly, there is always so much to learn, let go of, and tattoo on to your body. :)

LinkedIn Comments:

  • From Jake: Beautiful and meaningful, perfect! I feel so honored to have shared this otherworldly experience with you all. I feel especially blessed to have stood with you outside at sunrise that last morning when you vulnerably shared about what you were feeling, discovering, what you were seeking, what you were letting go of, and what you were opening to ... And that tattoo captures so much, it is alive with your story, our story, and I love that!

  • From Joao: Let's keep walking Jake Haupert, our society needs more people walking together (not necessarily agreeing), but by walking side by side we will move the needle in the right direction. Thank you once again for the incredible work at The Transformational Travel Council
