The World’s only Transformative Tourism Design Program

The Transformational Travel Design Program, rooted in the principles of the transformation economy, is tailored for tourism professionals seeking to integrate transformative tourism techniques and tools into their experience design, messaging, and customer journey.

This program provides a platform for collaboration with industry professionals, reinforcing the global movement towards conscious, sustainable travel practices, and regenerative development.

It supports building a community dedicated to enhancing tourism and contributing to global betterment through transformative travel and tourism.

  • Our Transformational Travel Design Programs are about more than learning new skills and gaining new knowledge. It is about discovery, feeling and experiencing. Not only do our participants explore amazing content from industry experts, but they go on a transformational journey themselves. We hope this learning journey acts as an example of what they are able to create in their travel designs after completing the course.

Timeline (regardless of the course format):

    * The journey starts about a week before we meet with pre-course activities. With the ideas everyone brings—those dear to their hearts and businesses—that need nurturing to see the light of day.

    * The journey unfolds as we navigate it, embracing the uniqueness of each group and the moment in time. The destination is the same, but each journey is like no other.

    * The journey ends two weeks after the course sessions when the participants submit their completed capstone projects for graduation.

When the journey finally ends, it actually only begins.

  • In our purpose-driven community, we prioritize listening to the unique needs of our customers. Understanding that our life dynamics change due to an accelerating and volatile environment, individuals have varying schedules and preferences, we have crafted versatile course formats, while maintaining consistent content, aims, goals, and outcomes.

    * The 3-day Intensive course is ideal for those seeking a concentrated, immersive six-hours-a-day experience with dedicated time for their capstone project.

    * The 5-day Intensive course offers a focused approach to learning and the transformative process. Fitting smoothly into working days with its four-hour-a-day full week format, it allows ample time for post-session activities that support the integration necessary for finalizing capstone projects.

    * The 5-day Intensive Stretch course format offers extended opportunities for reflection and integration, fitting comfortably into busy schedules. Held every other workday over two weeks with four-hour sessions, it supports timely completion of capstone projects post-session.

    * The 5-week Signature course provides a balanced approach, allowing for thorough comprehension, integration, and application through twice-weekly classes. The format enables participants to complete their capstone projects and graduate shortly after the course concludes.

    * The 10-week Original course offers extended opportunities for integration, reflection, and independent project work, catering to those who value a more extended, in-depth exploration over a longer period of dedicated time.

    * The Immersive course unfolds at an actual destination, where participants explore, live the experience and integrate learnings through real-world examples. This format provides hands-on understanding within a dedicated timeframe, offering participants an enriching and immersive education.

Key Features of The Original

Capstone Project

Integration and application and are pivotal. Carefully guided, participants select and develop a project throughout the course, serving as a tangible takeaway and graduation submission (two weeks post course).

Attendance

Co-creation demands presence, a vital element of transformational experiences. Participants are kindly asked to commit to attending at least 80% of all sessions in this journey.

Live Sessions

Regardless of the course format, we leverage our in-session time collaboratively and interactively, delving deep into various aspects of transformational travel design, fostering a co-creative environment.

Co-creation, vulnerability, bonding

Participants are provided with a supportive space for personal and intimate journeys, sharing insights through various forms of expression, fostering reflection, meaning-making, and tracking perspective change.

Continuous support

This educational experience acknowledges the possibility of doubts and disorientation, as in any transformational journey, thus providing a platform to address them and broaden comprehension.

Course Community Platform

One of the most important aspects of our educational journeys is the community – nurturing a sense of belonging, mutual support, and shared purpose among its members.

SYLLABUS

  • We take an introspective exploration of who we are as people and as professionals. Understanding how who we are and how we behave creates pathways for our travelers/guests to find transformation in their travel with us.

    Topics we cover:

    * Transformational travel, Transformation Economy, Transformational travel market

    * TTC’s Framework for transformation

    * Who we are as people and designers, what impacts us and how we interact with others

  • We dive deeply into our “why” that drives our work and the principles and practices that influence our designs. We explore how to guide our travelers in discovering their own “why” for their travel and how that can help inform our designs.

    Topics we cover:

    * Our values and ideas that connect with our travelers and convey our reasons and purpose

    * Methods to guide travelers toward their “why” in order to connect our designs to their reasons for traveling

    * How the needs and desires of communities and nature can inform our travel designs

  • In transformational travel design what we do to lay the foundations for our creations is as equally important as what we create. We explore the client journey and discover how we can best equip our travelers for transformation.

    Topics we cover:

    * PATH tool for designing, guiding and supporting our travelers on their journey

    * Guiding principles and indicators as a complex tool for transformational travel design

  • Self. Others. Systems & Nature. Designing experiences toward Transformation is all about deepening connections to these three relationships. In this section, we will explore how to do that.

    Topics we cover:

    * HEART as a tool for designing for transformations (for both travel designers and the travelers)

    * Designing experiences that facilitate healthy, reciprocal, and transformational connections

    * Exploring what co-creative process in transformational travel design is and how it can be applied to promote sustainability, conservation, and regeneration

  • As transformational travel is about creating positive change for self, others, and the world around us, what the travelers do once they return home is a key part of the journey. Often overlooked but immensely powerful, how we guide travelers toward integration and positive change can define our work.

    Topics we cover:

    * Guiding travelers once they return home toward integration of their experience as a key component of the transformational travel design (self, others, systems).

  • We reflect on how far we have come, set intentions for where we are going, and decide on practical ways to bring our newfound knowledge and wisdom to our business, customers, and the world.

Transformations + Testimonials

The Shift from the Experience to the Transformation Economy

Today we are in an Experience Economy, with a Transformation Economy hot on its heels. You can stay in the elusory safety of past practices and keep on doing the same things you’ve always been doing – in which case, mark my words, you too will be commoditised
— Joe Pine, Author "The Experience Economy"

When the experience designer and the traveler adopt a transformative approach the outcomes are improved, more value is provided, and the potential of transformation is elevated.
