Transformational Travel Council Announces Third Annual Gathering, Transcend ‘24

With the theme “Life Beneath the Surface” tourism professionals are invited to learn about transformational travel in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil

MILWAUKEE (September 19, 2023) – In honor of Climate Week, the Transformational Travel Council is proud to announce its third annual Transcend gathering will take place in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil from April 8th to 12th, 2024. The five-day tourism think tank event will convene curious and responsible travel professionals who want to create a more transformative and purposeful tourism industry, by employing next-generation experience design, encompassing tools, techniques,  philosophies, and practices that deepen personal impact and scale positive change.

Transcend ‘24 will inspire attendees through sessions about transformational travel and the transformation economy, as well as equip them with tourism tools and practices to create sustainable and regenerative change in the global travel industry. The summit’s unique backdrop will serve as an example of responsible and low-impact tourism. In late 2021, Mato Grosso’s government announced its historic commitment to becoming “Carbon Neutral” by 2035 through its unique Decarbonization Pathway, in partnership with the Center for Climate Strategies (CCS), The Climate Group, Winrock International, and the GCF Task Force under the Climate Pathway Project.

“Climate action is vital to transformative sustainable development, and at Transcend ‘24, we will facilitate dialogue on how transformational travel shifts mindsets and cultivates a sense of stewardship, regenerative behaviors, and making better choices at home and on the road,” says Jake Haupert, co-founder of the Transformation Travel Council. “This gathering of minds in this forward-looking place is a prime opportunity for travel professionals to learn about the transformation economy and how it cultivates meaning and purpose in travelers and hosts, and higher integrity and ethics in tourism.”

Bruno Wendling, Director of Fundtur, the government organization responsible for promoting tourism in the state of Bonito, notes, "By hosting this event, Mato Grosso do Sul can highlight its leadership in sustainable and responsible tourism practices, attracting like-minded travelers seeking authentic and immersive experiences."

Additional event information including event agenda, keynote speakers, and unique travel experiences will be announced soon.

About The Transformational Travel Council

The Transformational Travel Council (https://www.transformational.travel/) works with travel professionals and DMOs who want to create experiences that deliver connection, meaning, and purpose through life-changing experiences and want to employ the tools, ideas, philosophies, and practices that make a journey transformational. The Seattle-based tourism organization does that through a transformational travel design program, destination regeneration program, allyship and accreditation programs, “Transformational Travel Journal,” and an annual gathering, Transcend. That work has earned numerous awards and recognition, including the Newsweek Future of Travel Award and Meaningful Tourism Center’s Meaningful Tourism Award.
