The Slovenian Tourist Board is all about firsts: the first country-wide destination to be green certified, the first to commit to regenerative tourism on a national level, and now the first European country to host The Transformational Travel Council’s (TTC) annual gathering - TRANSCEND ‘22 - an event designed to shift the tourism paradigm from extraction to regeneration through transformation.

The TTC is excited to launch a series of Live Virtual Workshops diving into some of the core topics of Transformational Travel. These 90 minute public workshops aim to set the groundwork of what it means to both travel and design travel from a place of mindfulness and consciousness toward deeper connection and meaning.

Some words have a feeling that is central to their meaning. Momentum is what we are feeling today. The Transformational Travel Council has steadily grown over the past few years and we have still further to go. It is only with your support and engagement that we can continue to lead the way toward a world transformed through travel.

June is LGBTQI+ pride month and at The Transformational Travel Council we are reflecting on the progress we have made as human beings, but also on the continued threat that is present for LGBTQI+ people - especially people of color and trans people - in our world. It is a time to celebrate but also a time to reflect and to be even more bold in our efforts to bring peace, freedom, and the right to be to all people.

It’s no secret that our planet is headed for an increasingly disastrous loss of life due to the consequences of rising temperatures on a global scale unless major steps are taken to reverse the course. As travelers, we can do a great deal to subvert the causes of climate change and take steps toward securing a clean atmosphere for proceeding generations.

The Transformational Travel Council Launches Initiative Exploring Intersections Of Travel And Racism, Equity, Inclusion, And Healing. This initiative seeks to explore the intersections of travel as a practice and as an industry with racial healing, equity, inclusion, and integration of human consciousness. The TTC’s hope is to bring travel and tourism into its right place as a venue for fundamental shifts in how we see and interact with each other. Travel can support our healing from all forms of oppression when done mindfully.

The time is now to take a higher consciousness approach in tourism, with reverence for the power that travel has in deepening our relations with ourselves, each other, and the planet. People protect what they love, it’s that simple, and the inside-out transformations that come from this primal place are a million times more sticky, enduring, and expansive than scientific reports, manuals, or listicles on how to do better or else. Maybe, just maybe, it is less about doing and more about BEING?

Every year, my best pals and I go backpacking into the wilderness together, sharing in the awe and wonder of our planet, contemplating life, and having conversations that matter. One year, we decided to ascend Mt. Kilimanjaro and it ended up being life-changing, truly transformational.

As the message of breathing came to me, I noticed that this was an extremely common theme for me this week. I started to panic earlier in the week when I realized I had 2 projects, an exam, 2 quizzes and reading every day all this week. I felt extremely overwhelmed, and nearly crashed by just the thought of everything that I had to do. I had to step back and breathe. I had to rebalance my self to be able to take each thing down one by one.

A new meditation technique that I recently found out about is this idea of a room, hidden within your meditations. Not a place that takes place in the physical world but hidden within your heart. My room is something I discovered within my first meditation, but never realized the power that it brought to me. It’s a place that continuously expands and gets more and more detailed with each visit.
