Jake's Weekly Flow #29

Weekly Flow #29 - July 22nd, 2023

Dear, friend

Welcome to my weekly flow of news, events, insightful perspectives, and impactful stories aimed at creating positive change in your life and the lives you touch, at home and on the road.

My curious mind, intuitive soul, and big heart, along with some personal connections and crushes on extraordinary humans have put me in a position to receive an abundance of practical information, exciting innovation, and profound wisdom, usually travel-related, that has flowed to me, and now, on to you. Before you scan, take a breath, tune in, open up to the flow, and find your glow.

  • Having two teens in this challenging moment, I’m keeping a close eye on their mental health. Thanks for the Greater Good Magazine for this one …  The Pandemic Hurt Teens. How Can We Help Them Recover? “ In the wake of COVID-19, what’s the new normal for teens—and how can we help them move forward?” And in the article, this quote deeply resonated, “Young people have a deep longing to feel connected to something bigger than themselves. This includes nature, civic engagement, social justice, and volunteering. Getting to be part of a meaningful experience is so key.” ―Quetzal François, Love Your Nature

  • “Greece Travel Made Easy: This Company Will Transform How You Explore Greece.” by Laura Begley Bloom. – “Our travelers like to get outside their comfort zone and trade the luxury they have in their daily life back home with rustic, off-the-beaten-track experiences that give them a chance to interact even closer with the locals and see their way of life,” says Makatouni.”

  • A little about spiritual travel A Path to Enlightenment: Unveiling the Spiritual Wonders of the World - “Traveling to amazing spiritual destinations is an incredible way to nourish the soul, explore new cultures, and connect with the inner self. These journeys offer a unique opportunity to delve into the depths of spirituality, find peace, and gain a broader perspective on life. In this article, we will explore the concept of spiritual travel, the benefits it brings, and some of the top destinations around the world that are renowned for their spiritual significance.”

  • Looking at the cosmos somehow shifts my consciousness in seconds, maybe you too. Check out these mind blowing photos from the first year of the Webb Space Telescope.

  • A little about Heritage Travel … How Jeannie Mai Jenkins' Life-changing Anniversary Trip to Vietnam Brought Her Even Closer to Her Heritage — and Her Husband

  • A bit about the ongoing culture war that keeps us from making meaningful progress in our lives and in our society. I’ll leave Privilege and Fortune: A Confucian View - by Charles Eisenstein

  • And finally, a mind-bending podcast,  The Future Of The World Depends On Us w/ Charles Eisenstein. - “Your actions are not insignificant. Every choice you make contributes critically to the future we will live in. So what is there to do? This podcast offers some some potential pathways to unlock your full potential as a guardian of the galaxy. One of these vectors we explore at depth is Charles Eisenstein’s decision to join Robert F. Kennedy’s Presidential campaign. We discuss how RFK Jr.'s unwavering commitment to healing the polarization and division tearing our nation apart sets him apart as a beacon of hope.”

Taken from the Inn at Langley. Me just being following one of our community activation workshops on Whidbey and Camano Islands, as part of our Destination Regeneration Program.

This feels like another week for the simple complexity of good poetry …  I hope this hits hard.

ALWAYS WE HOPE – LAO TZU
Always we hope
someone else has the answer,
some other place will be better,
some other time,
it will turn out.
This is it.
No one else has the answer,
no other place will be better,
and it has already turned out.
At the centre of your being,
you have the answer:
you know who you are and
you know what you want.
There is no need to run outside
for better seeing,
nor to peer from a window.
Rather abide at the centre of your being:
for the more you leave it,
the less you learn.
Search your heart and see
the way to do is to be.

This weekend, just be,
