Dear, Changemaker

Welcome to my weekly flow of news, events, insightful perspectives, and impactful stories aimed at creating positive change in your life and the lives you touch, at home and on the road.

My curious mind, intuitive soul, and big heart, along with some personal connections and crushes on extraordinary humans have put me in a position to receive an abundance of practical information, exciting innovation, and profound wisdom, usually travel-related, that has flowed to me, and now, on to you. Before you scan, take a breath, tune in, open up to the flow, and find your glow.

Darby, Olive, and Ella in their respective Taylor album era styles!

While my share this is week is not as soul stirring as a poetry or a Rumi quote, this week I am sharing something that was very clearly soul stirring for my daughter, Olive, her friends and her mama too … Taylor Swift came to town this week and while I didn’t have a ticket, I did decide to go and pick them up early, sit under the night sky on the hood of my car and listen from afar all the Swifties singing, flowing, and feeling alive …  Being present and observing this at a distance was super emotive, these Swifties know every lyric and the belt it from the depths of their hearts. Contemplating this, I am reminded of how song and lyrics not only bring us closer to our human experience, but bring us closer to our communities and each other when many of feel so alone. Like many talented musicians, Taylor Swift, is giving voice to heart-break, pain, beauty, joy, and struggle that so many of us feel and sometimes having a hard time sharing or articulating.

So yeah, I sat there, listening and feeling, and watched others in their cars parked by mine, singing like no one was listening… I may have sang a bit under my breath, I guess that makes me a Swiftie, at least for one night, and I am grateful for it.

One of my favorite travel tips is that no matter where you are in the world, seek out some live music, it’s there, and it is a powerful way to go deeper into the local community and culture.

Keep dancing,
