Jake's Weekly Flow #27

Weekly Flow #27 - July 8th, 2023

Dear, wanderer

Welcome to my weekly flow of news, events, insightful perspectives, and impactful stories aimed at creating positive change in your life and the lives you touch, at home and on the road.

My curious mind, intuitive soul, and big heart, along with some personal connections and crushes on extraordinary humans have put me in a position to receive an abundance of practical information, exciting innovation, and profound wisdom, usually travel-related, that has flowed to me, and now, on to you. Before you scan, take a breath, tune in, open up to the flow, and find your glow.

For those following along, last week my son and I were doing some off-grid camping on Shasta Lake in Northern California. Just those few days illuminated how distant I am every day, sifting through all the communications, tethered to my phone, and not all that present. I’m trying to be super mindful of that this week and have chosen to bring my office outside today, with a picnic, my dogs, a blanket, and my computer … It’s been quite nice to hear the waves of the lake and some birdsong as I write this weekly flow.

Japan is currently attracting more travelers than ever before, similar to how places like Slovenia and Portugal were all the buzz over the past couple of years.. I hope visitors remember to travel responsibly and mindfully!

I can’t help but connect the dots between the western culture craving a more zenful experience and existence and the calm, flow, and harmony that Japan offers, opening new connections to the web of life and the space between. So, when I met an old friend that I went to “wisdom school” with, aka the Modern Elder Academy, Michael Strusser, at his Japanese inspired day spa in Sonoma County, I was excited, because I need me some calm, flow, and harmony.

Osmosis Spa and Sanctuary is known for their our unique Cedar Enzyme Bath, rejuvenating massages, organic facials, and beautiful Zen gardens.  Michael was generous enough to give a private walk and tour through this mystical place and after walking through the gardens, the spa, by the pagodas, he surprised me with a forest bathing experience, where we sat next to a creek, slowed things down, and started to observe, listen and notice with all the senses the insects, the webs, the tumbling rocks, the entire forest in motion, dancing before us, reminding me that I miss so much in my day to day, which is so disappointing, as the beauty of our planet is mesmerizing and inspiring, and ever so grounding. Thank you, Michael, and team at Osmosis, I now have a lifetime connection that I will always treasure.

Breathe in some photos and watch the video that I recorded of Michael sharing insight into the experience and benefits of the Cedar Enzyme Bath. Michael, shared with me that it is truly transformational.
