Jake's Weekly Flow #26

Weekly Flow #26 - June 30, 2023

Dear, wanderer

Welcome to my weekly flow of news, events, insightful perspectives, and impactful stories aimed at creating positive change in your life and the lives you touch, at home and on the road.

My curious mind, intuitive soul, and big heart, along with some personal connections and crushes on extraordinary humans have put me in a position to receive an abundance of practical information, exciting innovation, and profound wisdom, usually travel-related, that has flowed to me, and now, on to you. Before you scan, take a breath, tune in, open up to the flow, and find your glow.

It is so great to see the quiet, awe, and wonder of off-grid travel is calling to so many!  I just spent a few days off the grid on a remote beach on Shasta Lake in Northern California with my son, Quinn, and some of my old high school friends and their kiddos, many of which I have not seen in a while. I tell you, 30 years later, some of those folks couldn’t have more different beliefs and politics than I do, but when you’re out in nature, away from the media, the propaganda that perpetuates the us versus them mentality, it all just falls away and we get to celebrate our shared appreciation for mother nature, our love for our kids and our families, and reminisce on days past, that when brought up again and again, still take us back, still make us laugh so hard we cry. Those relationships matter, the glassy lake, the pine trees, the stars above, they matter.

It’s in this magical place that we’re reminded that we’re all just those same kids now playing in a grown-up world, on a new stage, just trying to figure things out, just like we always have. I’m pretty sure that when we were 15, we thought we knew it all, and maybe that illusion hasn’t changed, maybe if we were just more open, vulnerable, and real with ourselves and with each other, we’d be able to break down so many of the divisions that exist in our families, our communities and our civilization and begin to honor and celebrate the things that matter most in our lives.

Journey on,
