Our Origins & Our Why
Motivated by our own profound life-changing travel experiences and a deeply held belief in travel's innate ability to break down walls within ourselves and between people and cultures, a small group of purpose-driven thought leaders, gurus, adventurers, coaches, consultants, and teachers set out to start a movement in the fall of 2016. The Transformational Travel Council (TTC) was officially launched at the 2016 Adventure Travel World Summit in Anchorage, Alaska in a groundbreaking presentation by TTC Co-founders Michael Bennett, Jake Haupert, Kurt Kutay, and Don Mankin. We are proud to be the people responsible for taking what was then a fledgling idea and launching TT towards what it has become today: The next great movement in travel.
Our mission then, as it is now, was to:
Inspire, empower, and support people in using travel as a catalyst for creating deeper connections with self and nature
Leverage travel as a tool for fostering global citizenry, communication, understanding, stewardship, and connection
Build a community of people dedicated to changing lives (their own and others) and the world through travel
Our personal adventures had an indelible impact on our lives, and while each of our stories is unique, they shared many common threads: Intention; Engagement; Mindfulness; Reflection; and Action. Now, we want to share our stories, our successes and our mistakes, our best practices, and our knowledge to help travelers embark on their own life-changing travel experience and support the travel trade in designing more thoughtful, intentional, and potentially life-changing adventures for travelers that are seeking to travel inspired.
